Dockstavarvet shipyard, part of Sweden’s Saab Group, has introduced its new combat boat named “CB90 HSM” with a video release on their YouTube channel on 30th June. Andreas Nordstrand, technical director of Saab’s Shipyard in Docksta showcases the new and improved Docksta CB90 HMS. The brand new boat, equipped with much more than its predecessors: improved speed and maneuverability, as well as attack power and surveillance capabilities. With its fascinating skills, Docksta CB90 HSM is a candidate to assure great advantages to owners at littoral warfare.
Stridsbåt 90 H is a class of fast military assault craft used by several countries after being originally developed for the Swedish Navy by Dockstavarvet. Its name means Combat Boat 90 Half; the 90 refers to the year of acceptance (1990) and Half refers to the fact that it can carry and deploy a half platoon of amphibious infantry (18 men) fully equipped) The CB90 is an exceptionally fast and agile boat that can execute extremely sharp turns at high speed, decelerate from top speed to a full stop in 2.5 boat lengths, and adjust both its pitch and roll angle while under way.
With more than 250 sold boats operating worldwide, CB90 has been a success story since the first boat was commissioned. Recently a new model of the proven concept was delivered to Swedish defense material administration (FMV); CB90 HSM. Even though it looks similar to its predecessors on the outside, the inside is vastly modified. The cabin craft offers supreme CBRN and ballistic protection thanks to lightweight polyethylene lining and safety glass. Tough interior combined with a strong bow ramp, ensure swift deployment onto unprepared beaches.
Add to that new combat management system and sensors for surveillance and attack power through the Trackfire system, CB90 HSM is indeed a whole new breed, ready to take on the coasts of Sweden. The unique configuration of Trackfire provides a Stabilized Independent Line Of Sight (SILOS). As the independently stabilized Sensor Module is decoupled from the weapons axes, the operator is able to maintain the line of sight on the target, thereby greatly reducing target acquisition times. The Trackfire system also allows greatly improved surveillance capabilities through IR cameras.
