Australian Missile Corporation Signs More Partners to Support Sovereign Guided Weapons Enterprise

The Australian Missile Corporation (AMC) is pleased to announce the latest signing of partners to the AMC collaboration; Milspec Manufacturing and Thomas Global Systems. This follows previous announcements of collaborations with Quickstep, Black Sky Aerospace, DMG MORI, Thornton Tomasetti, Arican Advisory & Capital, Aldom Transport Engineering, Applied Fasteners and Tooling, Allweld Manufacturing, Benchon and Israel Aerospace Industries. The expertise of these companies with world-leading insights will be critical to support the Australian Government as it realises its vision for a sovereign guided weapons enterprise equipped and ready to support the Australian Defence Force.

Neil Morrison, General Manager of Milspec Manufacturing, said: “We are excited at the opportunity to partner with AMC and to be involved in the development of a sovereign guided weapons enterprise in Australia. Milspec Manufacturing is ready to assist as we are AS9100-approved and have relevant manufacturing capabilities thanks to our work on the Nulka decoy system.”

Milspec Manufacturing has been supplying technology and componentry to the defence industry for over 14 years. Milspec Manufactruing has significant expertise in precision machining, welding, fabrication and assembly of launcher systems.  

Thomas Global Systems is an industry leader in the design, production and support of high integrity electronic systems solutions for defence and commercial aviation applications. Since 1956, Thomas Global has consistently earned international recognition for innovation and dependability. Thomas Global leverages expertise in avionics, armoured vehicle electronics and specialised mission-critical defence electronics and training solutions. The company’s facilities are in Sydney, Australia, and Irvine, California.

The Australian Missile Corporation is a subsidiary of NIOA, formed to facilitate collaboration between industry partners, academia, State Governments and Defence in response to the Australian Government’s call to establish a sovereign guided weapons enterprise. NIOA was founded in regional Queensland in 1973 and is the largest Australian-owned weapons and munitions Prime Contractor. Committed to the development of Australian sovereign capability, NIOA is investing $130m in domestic munitions and explosives manufacturing over the next five years, including a $60m artillery shell forging plant in Maryborough Queensland with joint-venture partner Rheinmetall Waffe Munitions, an upgrade of the Commonwealth’s Government-owned Benalla munitions plant in Victoria and an $11m expansion of its Brisbane warehouse and distribution facility.
