The People’s Army of Vietnam intends to buy up to four MS-20 bridge layers to support its main battle tanks and armored vehicles. The bridge layer have been adapted to the buyer’s requirements in terms of local climatic conditions. As a result, electronic systems, hydraulics and corrosion protection have been changed. OBRUM engineers are currently training a group of the first 20 operators of these systems. In addition, they were also painted with a special paint adapted to the local climate.

The People’s Army of Vietnam will become the second user of these systems after Poland, where 12 of these bridges are already in operation in the engineering troops. The Polish Army intends to buy up to 50 MS-20 bridge layers to support its Leopard 2A5 main battle tanks. The first two MS-20 Daglezja bridges were delivered to the Polish Armament Inspectorate for use by the Polish Army in December 2012. The Polish Armament Inspectorate accepted an offer to buy ten MS-20 bridge layers from OBRUM and Bumar-Labedy in February 2015.

The bridge is mounted on a high-mobility, all-wheel drive JELCZ C662D.43 6×6 truck-type tractor, attached with a 6×6 off-road semi-trailer, which has an additional hydraulic system. The truck’s gross vehicle weight is 24,000kg and kerb weight is 14,500kg. It is operated by two personnel, seated in a two-door cabin. It is detached from the bridge when the span is distributed. It has a length of 42m with span complex put in place and of 16.5m with span on the saddle. It supports a mass of up to 47.9t and has a stand-by time of 30 minutes, whereas the roadway width is 4m.

The truck is driven by IVECO FPT Cursor 10 EURO III, a turbocharged diesel engine that develops a maximum power of 316kW at 2,100rpm and a maximum torque of 1,900nm at 1,050rpm-1,590rpm. The JELCZ C662D.43 tractor with bridge layer onboard can reach a maximum speed of 85km/h on roads. The bridge offers high mobility and can withstand temperatures ranging between -30°C to 50°C.It can climb vertical obstacles of 0.3m, cross ditches of 0.6m and overcome deep water obstacles of 1.2m. The maximum height on both sides of the obstacle is 2m and the maximum slope is 5%.
