BC Customs Awarded 70 Million Contract for US Air Force SRTV-SXV Search and Rescue Tactical Vehicle

BC Customs LLC, Clearfield, Utah, has been awarded a ceiling $70,000,000 contract with a five-year ordering period for the Search and Rescue Tactical Vehicle (SRTV) – Side by Vehicle (SXV). This contract provides SRTV-SXV, training and accessories for special warfare. Work will be performed at Clearfield, Utah, and is expected to be completed May 31, 2026. No funds will be obligated at the time of award; funds will be obligated on individual orders as they are issued. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity.

The Storm Search and Rescue Tactical Vehicle (SRTV) is an all-terrain light military vehicle developed by the United States. It was the winner of the Guardian Angel Air-Deployable Rescue Vehicle (GAARV) competition awarded by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC). The competition was named for the pararescuemen and combat rescue officers known as the “Guardian Angel Weapon System.” The SRTV is measured to be carried internally by the M/HC-130P/N/J, C-130/C-130J, KC-130J and C-17 fixed-wing aircraft as well as the CH-47 and CH-53 helicopters.

The Search and Rescue Tactical Vehicle (SRTV) – Side by Vehicle (SXV) was originally designed around 2004 by Utah-based BC Customs, from a commercial space-frame off-road race buggy design. The unique vehicle platform provides unparalleled speed, payload, range and durability. The SRTV is an ultra-lightweight, air-deployable tactical vehicle that offers Guardian Angel rescue teams the necessary equipment to search for and recover personnel and equipment in austere geographic locations.

The SRTV SXV has a modular weapon system that can be changed to a variety of platforms, increasing combat effectiveness and firepower. With a top speed of 80mph, this vehicle redefines how small units can range and combat threats, in all types of environments. Additional features include casualty evacuation platforms for litters, and gas or diesel engine options, increasing adaptability to units’ needs. Well balanced and quick, this vehicle can be deployed in a wide range of scenarios and environments, with the reassurance of good ‘ol heavy firepower attached.
