NHIndustries and its Partners Companies (Airbus Helicopters, Leonardo and Fokker) have signed a contract amendment with the Hellenic Ministry of National Defense. This contract amendment will enable the remaining 6 NH90s to be delivered to the Hellenic Army, bringing their total fleet to 20 NH90, and well as providing a contractual framework for a sustainable support system to be developed in the country, for present and future operations
The NHIndustries NH90 is a medium-sized, twin-engine, multi-role military helicopter. The NH90 was developed and is manufactured by NHIndustries, a collaborative company owned by Airbus Helicopters, Leonardo (formerly AgustaWestland) and Fokker Aerostructures. The first prototype conducted its maiden flight in December 1995; the type first entered operational service in 2007. As of November 2020, the NH90 has logged 265,372 flight hours in the armed forces of thirteen nations.
In August 2003, Hellenic Army ordered 20 NH90 medium utility military helicopters with an option for 14 more. On December 12 it was stated that deliveries would start again after an embargo by the Hellenic Government with 4 helicopters being of the SPEOPS specification. By early 2017, 12 NH90 medium utility military helicoptershad been delivered and are in service, with eight aircraft to be delivered from the manufacturer.
NHIndustries (NHI) is a helicopter manufacturing company specifically established to be NATO Helicopter Management Agency’s prime contractor for the design and development of the NHIndustries NH90 series of helicopters. Established in 1992, NHIndustries was formed as a partnership between Eurocopter of France and Germany (now Airbus Helicopters), Agusta of Italy (now Leonardo) and Stork Fokker Aerospace of the Netherlands (now Fokker Aerostructures).
