Plasan Unveils Its Stinger Optionally Manned Light Combat Vehicle

Plasan’s Stinger light combat vehicle is a 6.8-ton vehicle based on a standard High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV; Humvee) chassis. These missions require a highly maneuverable, all-terrain vehicle that can withstand various threats including ambush, rifle fire and mines. The armored vehicle is based on a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), reliable and very common commercial light vehicle all over the world. It comes with a powerful engine, automatic transmission and four-wheel-drive, which is already in use with foreign militaries. The armored cabin, utilizes the original dashboard components, offers the driver and passengers the comfort of a standard HMMV vehicle – instrument panel and other OEM features.

The Stinger’s cabin is easy to assemble, and maintain, and facilitating future growth. The Lego-like ease of assembly as the large portion of NBP allows adding a Local Content feature to the
business transaction with the Customer. The Customer can purchase the chassis directly from the OEM (AM General) and assemble the vehicle with a cabin kit sent from Plasan.Each of Plasan’s Stinger Kit includes (A kit + B Kit):
Chassis: HMMWV based Basic Hull (A-kit):
Opaque: Protected to STANAG 4569 L2 (KE + Mine) andTransparent: Protected to STANAG 4569 L3 (KE)
KE AOA (B-kit): Enhancing protection to STANAG 4569 L4.
Others: Hood, fenders, side steps, electrical package, etc.

Plasan has developed, qualified and certified lightweight armor technologies for various STANAG 4569 Level 4 of threats and will adapt, test, produce and supply these modified Kinetic Energy (KE) protection solutions. These armor solutions, qualified by militaries, OEMs and ballistic labs were and are currently under serial production and integrated onto combat vehicles in various countries, hence are at TRL9. These solutions are based on a variety of unique materials combinations (Composites, Metal Composites and Ceramic Composites Armor recipes) and a variety of geometries designed for optimal protection solutions. Plasan has developed and fielded successfully tens of thousands of unique. Mine Protection Kits (MPK) to the US, Australia, UK and other armed forces in recent years. The Stinger’s mine protection level can be designed to match Customer’s requirements.
