General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS) Canada received a $40,000,000 Firm Fixed Price Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract award from the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division (NSWC IHD) for the manufacture, assembly, test and delivery of 57 mm Target Practice (TP) cartridges, used in conjunction with the Mark 110 57 mm gun mount. The TP cartridge consists of an inert projectile, a brass cartridge case, a primer and propellant.
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems – Canada (GD-OTS Canada) produces the Target Practice (TP) C100 and the 57 mm 3P (Pre-Fragmented, Programmable, Proximity) cartridge (Under BAE Systems License for Canada) for BAE Systems 57 mm L70 Mk 3 automatic gun being installed on the Canadian Navy Halifax Frigates. The 57 mm Target Practice (TP) C100 cartridge is compatible with the BAE Systems 57 mm L70 Mk 3 automatic gun being installed on the Canadian Navy Halifax Frigates.

General Dynamics-OTS Canada secured the unique opportunity to provide a low-risk, low-cost, reliable Target Practice solution to the U.S. Navy, by leveraging years of producing 57 mm Target Practice cartridges on behalf of the Royal Canadian Navy. The company tailored the cartridge to meet the performance specifications as put forth by the U.S. Navy, while manufacturing the majority of components either internally within General Dynamics-OTS or through the North American Industrial Base.
