The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Navy in a ceremony at Bandar Abbas port in Southern Iran on Monday received 340 new cobat speedboats with the capability to fire different missiles and rockets. The ceremony was attended by Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri, IRGC Commander Major General Hossein Salami, IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Reza Tangsiri, Governor of Hormozgan province and other government and military officials. The light, fast and offensive speedboats which were built in the centers affiliated to the IRGC Navy for missions and operations in the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman and the Caspian Sea

The Iran’s Armed Forces had announced in October 2019 that Iran plans to manufacture speed boats in the near future which voyage at the speed of 100 knots per hour. The scombat peedboats which are capable of carrying and firing various missiles/rockets and supporting diving operations joined IRGC Naval Combat Organization in Bandar Abbas. The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Navy has successfully performed the task of establishing security in the region, especially in the Strait of Hormuz, through which more than two-thirds of the world’s fossil fuel passes. The Iranian Armed Forces’ preparedness has established security and stability in the Persian Gulf region.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Navy (IRGC Navy, NEDSA, Sepah Navy) is the naval warfare service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) founded in 1985, and one of the two maritime forces of Iran parallel to the conventional Islamic Republic of Iran Navy. IRGC Navy and Artesh Navy overlap functions and areas of responsibility, but they are distinct in terms of how they are trained and equipped. The Revolutionary Guards Navy has a large inventory of small fast attack craft, and specializes in asymmetric hit-and-run tactics. It is more akin to a guerrilla force at sea, and maintains large arsenals of coastal defense and anti-ship cruise missiles and mines.
