Nigerian Army unveils Isotrex Phantom 2 armoured personnel carriers (APCs). Photos released on Nigerian social media have revealedat least eight Phantom 2s with other military vehicles preparing for Operation ‘Tura Takaibango’. ‘Tura Takaibango’ is a part of the wider ongoing Operation ‘Lafiya Dole’ in the northeast of the country. On Jan. 9, a total of 28 Boko Haram militants were killed in the Gujba local government area of Yobe, while 30 others were killed near the Buni Yadi area of the state on the same day. The Boko Haram group has been trying to establish an Islamist state in northeastern Nigeria since 2009. The deadly group has also extended its attacks to countries in the Lake Chad Basin.
