The Hungarian Army (Magyar Szárazföldi HaderÅ‘) has taken delivery of 10 Gidran 4×4 wheeled armored vehicles, an advanced version of the Ejder Yalcin produced by the Turkish company Nurol Makina. In 2018, Hungary has launched a procurement for the acquisition of a new 4×4 armored vehicle for the army. The first batch of 10 vehicles was bought by the Turkish company Nurol Makina and configured according to the requirements of the Hungarian Armed Forces (Magyar Honvédség). Hungary will also produce locally, the NMS 4×4 armored vehicle another product also developed and designed by the Turkish company Nurol Makina.

Ejder (Turkish:”Dragon”) is a family of armoured vehicles produced by Turkish company Nurol Makina. It consist of two version which is 4×4 and 6×6. Ejder Yalcin 4×4 Armored Combat Vehicle a unique platform that has high protection and mobility, is developed to meet the operational requirements of military units and security forces in every region including rural and urban areas. By its unique design and high payload capacity, different payloads can be integrated; therefore Ejder Yalcin 4×4 can be customized for various mission. With its powerful diesel engine, high torque capability and fully independent suspension system, the vehicle offers superior off-road performance.

Design studies on the vehicle were initiated in the last quarter of 2012 and a pre-prototype of the base vehicle was exhibited at the IDEF in 2013. Mass production of the vehicle began in May 2014. It features a V-shaped hull design, integrating floating floor plates and blast mitigation seating to provide protection against mines and IED’s. It can accommodate up to 11 personnel and can carry a payload of up to 4 tons. The vehicle is equipped with optionally integrated, remote-controlled and manually-operated weapon stations. It is fitted with two gun ports on the roof. The optional armament mounted on the vehicle includes 7.62mm and 12.7mm machine guns, a 25mm anti-aircraft gun and a 40mm automatic grenade launcher.
