BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc. – Electronic Solutions, Wayne, New Jersey, is awarded an $86,910,000 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for systems engineering and integration of Multifunctional Information Distribution System Low Volume Terminals (MIDS-LVTs). MIDS-LVTs provides secure, high-capacity, jam-resistant, digital data and voice communications capability for the Navy, Air Force and Army platforms, and the platforms of France, Italy, Germany and Spain. Work will be performed in Wayne, New Jersey and Paris, France, and is expected to be completed by December 2025.

The MIDS-LVT terminal provides at-a-glance portrayal of targets, threats, and friendly forces on an easy-to-understand relative position display. MIDS is the NATO name for the communication component of Link-16. The system increases combat effectiveness while reducing the threat of friendly fire. MID allows for exchange of near real-time tactical information, including both data and voice, among air, ground, and sea elements. It is intended to support key theater functions such as surveillance, identification, air control, weapons engagement coordination and direction for all Services.

Link 16 is a standardized communications system for transmitting and exchanging real time tactical data using links between network participants, also known as TADIL J. For more than two decades, Data Link Solutions (DLS), a joint venture of BAE Systems and Collins Aerospace (formerly Rockwell Collins), has developed and produced the world standard in tactical data link technologies, creating affordable, high performance, high reliability Link 16 terminals for 40 different platforms in 30 allied countries, plus various NATO organizations. DLS is the only supplier that manufactures, delivers, and supports all Link 16 variants.
