According to information published by the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) on December 25, 2020, The upgraded ‘Marshal Shaposhnikov’ of the Russian Navy conducted a test-firing of the Uran (Uranus) anti-ship missile. The Project 1155M large anti-submarine warfare ship ‘Marshal Shaposhnikov’ was laid down in 1983. During the modernization, it was qualified as a frigate. The upgrade has resulted in the integration of new artillery, Uran anti-ship missiles, and Kalibr cruise missiles.

Marshal Shaposhnikov (Russian: Маршал Ша́пошников) is a Udaloy-class 1155M frigate (NATO reporting name: Udaloy-class) of the Russian Navy laid down in 1985. The vessel serves in the Russian Pacific Fleet. Her namesake is marshal Boris Shaposhnikov. The Project 1155M large anti-submarine warfare ship ‘Marshal Shaposhnikov’ was laid down in 1983. During the modernization, it was qualified as a frigate. In 2015, the Russian Navy initially announced that five out of the eight Project 1155 ships will be refurbished and upgraded as part of the Navy modernization program by 2022.

The upgrade has resulted in the integration of new artillery, Uran anti-ship missiles, and Kalibr cruise missiles. The Project 1155M is armed with two AK-130 130 mm naval guns, eight SS-N-22 ‘Sunburn’ anti-ship missiles, 64 VLS (Vertical Launching Systems) cells for SA-N-9 ‘Gauntlet’ surface-to-air missiles, two Kashtan CIWS (Close-In Weapon Systems), eight 553 mm torpedo tubes for SS-N-16 ‘Stallion’ anti-submarine missiles and two RBU-12000 anti-submarine rocket launchers.

The Uran is a Russian turbojet subsonic cruise anti-ship missile based on the Zvezda Kh-35. The Uran missile has a rocket booster and can be launched from helicopters, surface ships, and coastal defense batteries. It is designed to destroy missiles, torpedoes, gunboats, surface ships displacing up to 5,000 tonnes, and seagoing transports. The Uran missile has a weight of 610 kg, a length of 440 cm, and a diameter of 42 cm. The missile is equipped with an HE (High Explosive) fragmentation warhead of 145 kg. It has an operational range of 300 km for the upgrade version.
