Indian Navy and Indonesian Navy conducted the current edition of the IND-INDO ​​Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) on 15 & 16 June 2020. This edition builds on our robust mutual cooperation and further cements the deep ties and understanding that has been forged over the last 18 years of cohesively executing these CORPAT. Adapting to the pandemic induced constraints, INS Kulish (P-63) and KRI Teuku Umar (385) met at sea following the well documented protocols and conducted the evolution successfully. A Maritime Patrol Aircraft also participated in the CORPAT. Both Navies now look forward to the 2020 edition of their bilateral exercise Samudra Shakti.
The IND-INDO CORPAT Series of bilaterals seek to underscore India’s peaceful presence and solidarity with friendly Maritime neighbours countries toensure good order in the maritime domain, consolidate interoperability and strengthen existing bonds of friendship between India and Indonesia. Indian Naval assets have been increasinly deployed in the recent times to address the maritime concerns on the region. In addition, as part of the Indian Government’s vision of SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region), the Indian Navy has also been involved in assisting countries in the Indian Ocean Region with EEZ Surveillance, Search and Rescue, and other capacity-building and capability-enhancement activities.
