The Turkish defense company Aselsan announced on 20 April that it had signed a new contract with Kazakhstan to supply its Stabilised Advanced Remote Weapon Platform (SARP)-Dual remote-controlled weapon station (RCWS). The Turkish company has strong links with Kazakhstan via its Kazakhstan Aselsan Engineering subsidiary, which was established to increase ‘manufacturing capacity in order to meet Kazakhstan’s military and civilian needs’. No details were provided about the delivery schedule, the size of the order, the value of the contract or the platforms the RWCSs are set to be installed upon.

The SARP-Dual RCWS is an Advanced Remote Controlled Stabilized Weapon Station for small and medium caliber machine guns and automatic grenade launchers. The platform combines high-precision reconnaissance and engagement capabilities with effective firepower while keeping the operator under armor or in a safe area away from counter fire. The compact design of the system proves SARP perfect match for integration onto tactical vehicles, fixed surveillance posts and towers. Stabilization, automatic target tracking and advanced ballistic computation features provide fire-on-the-move capability against stationary and moving targets. More than 20 armed forces use the system globally.

Aselsan A.Åž., (Askeri Elektronik Sanayi) is a Turkish corporation that produces tactical military radios and defense electronic systems for the Turkish Armed Forces. Aselsan was founded by the Turkish Army Foundation in 1975. Aselsan has associated companies in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates. Besides, the company announced in October 2015 that they are planning to expand their South African business “by seeking partnerships to form a private company out of its local branch Aselsan South Africa. The company headquarters is situated at Macunköy facilities in Ankara, Turkey.
