Akima Logistics Services Wins $385 Million to Support USAF C-21 Aircraft

Akima Logistics Services LLC, Herndon, Virginia, has been awarded a $385,000,000 ceiling indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for C-21 aircraft contractor logistics support services. This contract provides for program management, aircraft base and depot maintenance, engine maintenance, modifications and modification support and deployment support. Fiscal 2020 operations and maintenance funds in the amount of $1,892,492 are being obligated on the first task order at the time of award.

Work will be performed at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois; Joint Base Andrews, Maryland; Ramstein Air Base, Germany; and other stateside and overseas locations as the mission requires. This contract was competitively procured via a request for proposal and five offers were received. Work is expected to be complete by Aug. 31, 2030. The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, is the contracting activity.

The C-21A is a United States military designation for an “off the shelf” variant of the Learjet 35A for the United States Air Force In addition to its normal role, the aircraft is capable of transporting litters during medical evacuations. There are 38 Air Force active duty aircraft, and 18 Air National Guard aircraft in the C-21A fleet. On 1 April 1997, all continental U.S.-based C-21As were realigned under Air Mobility Command, with the 375th Airlift Wing at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, as the lead command.
