Polish arms manufacturer Z.M. Bumar-Łabędy S.A. employees took part in field tests of the T-72AMT main battle tank. This tank is a modernization of the T-72A tank ( equivalent T-72M1). The Polish Army has some 458 T-72A main battle tanks (MBT) in service (some in reserve), produced by Bumar-Łabędy in 1981-1990, and 232 of the PT-91 TWARDY family – a Polish development of the T-72M1. All of them are obsolete and cannot match modern MBTs, including Russian T-72B3s.

The main battle tank helds most of the former existing equipment of the base vehicle, including: 2E28 stabilization system, TPD-K1 gunner’s reticle, 2A46 gun, power transmission system (complete gearboxes, group 48), suspension, etc. The W-46-6 engine has been modified to the W-84 version with 840HP (equivalent to polish S12-U). Improvement of armor protection was achieved by installing ‘Knife’ armor elements, as well as slat armor protecting the rear of the vehicle.

The commander has a modernized PNK-4S day and night device that can be used to remotely guide a 12.7mm rifle, firing main weapons by the commander. However, the most important feature is the introduction of the next step in the implementation of the Hunter-Killer system. PNK-4S sight is 4,000 m, while under night conditions this is reduced to 1,200 m. The commander may transfer the bearing of the target to the gunner (in two planes). The system has independent instrument stabilization with 0.2mrad vertical and 0.8mrad horizontal accuracy.

The gunner has a newer night vision sight 1K13-49 which has an additional laser beam emitter. 1K13 is designed for targets observation, search and detection in daylight and at night, targets engagement with the gun and coaxial machine gun by standard missiles at night. The introduction of the “beam-rider” to FCS gives the opportunity to shoot projectiles at a distance of up to 5km. The tank also has a new communication system and daytime reversing camera for the driver. The power generator EA-10-2 with 10kW power is used to supply the tank with electricity during standstill with simultaneous battery charging.
