The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has commissioned two more Priyadarshini-class fast patrol vessels (FPVs). The vessels are part of a five-boat contract signed between Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) and the Indian government in 2016. The programme’s first-of-class, ICGS Priyadarshini, was inducted in April 2019. The boats, which have been named ICGS Amrit Kaur (225) and ICGS Annie Besant (223) respectively, were commissioned on 12 January in Kolkata, India.

The Priyadarshini-class fast patrol vessels has an overall length of 50 m, a beam of 7.5 m, and displaces about 308 tonnes at full load. It can accommodate a crew complement of 35. The fast patrol vessels will have a an endurance of more than 1,500 nautical miles, and a crew of 35. The Priyadarshini-class patrol vessels (also referred to as Jija Bai Mod 1 class) are a series of 8 mid-shore fast patrol boats, built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, Kolkata and Goa Shipyard Limited, Vasco da Gama, Goa for Indian Coast Guard between 1991 and 1998.
