Tatra AM-50 EX Bridge Layer

The AM-50 is a bridging system bridging system developed the Czech company Tatra. The bridge is carried on a Tatra 813 cross-country truck that also can deploy the bridge. The AM50 – EX is a wheeled self-propelled vehicle, with a superstructure consisting of a single M50 EX bridge field and one detachable trestle. A single bridge field can span an obstacle with width between 10 to 12.5 m, width 4.4 m and depth from 2 to 5.65 m. This is a special wheeled vehicle for launching a mobile bridge can support vehicles of up to 50 tons. By joining several bridge fields (max. 8 fields) it is possible to span an obstacle with width in the range of 12.5 m to 108 m.

The bridge construction is mounted on the chassis of a 8×8 TATRA-815 truck. Tatra T815 is a truck family, produced by Czech company Tatra. It uses the traditional tatra concept of rigid backbone tube and swinging half-axles giving independent suspension. As a successor to Tatra T813 it was originally designed for extreme off-road conditions, while nowadays there are also variants designated for mixed (both off- and on-road) use. It is equipped with central controlled air pressure in its tyres and a protection system against chemical, biological and radioactive agents.
