At Eurosatory 2018 defense exhibition in Paris (France), the Serbian State Defense Company YugoImport showcases its full range of artillery systems including the NORA-B52 a 155mm 52-caliber wheeled self-propelled howitzer, the Aleksander the latest generation of fully automatic 155mm wheeled self-propelled howitzer and the Shumadia, a multi-caliber MLRS (Multiple Launcher Rocket System).
The Nora B-52 is a 155 mm self-propelled howitzer weapon system developed by Military Technical Institute Belgrade for export and domestic use. The first self-propelled Nora B (developed on the basis of Nora C) was designed by MTI in 1984 with a modified 152 mm gun-howitzer M84 NORA[2] mounted on an FAP 8×8 truck bed and was a third generation of artillery weapons. Later 2000 MTI developed new versions of 4th generation artillery systems with 52 caliber 155 mm gun for fitting on a new system of NORA family with B-52 designation.
The Aleksander was made through an integration of a 155 mm weapon module on an 8×8 chassis. The weapon module is controlled from the vehicle cabin and, owing to its characteristics, can be regarded as a 155 mm RCWS. The weapon module is actually a 155 mm barrel assembly (autofretted) manufactured in two versions. The most important component of the weapon module is a fully automatic loader with 12 projectiles and propellant charges, featuring the possibility of loading at all elevations and the rate of fire up to 6 rounds per minute. Additional 12 rounds are accommodated on the platform for automatic re-loading, so the combat set comprises a total of 24 rounds without any crew engagement necessary. The system features an automatic line of sight and automated navigation. For stabilization purposes, the weapon is fitted with 4 hydraulic trails enabling fire in both directions which makes this weapon unique in the world.
The Shumadia is designed for transport and launch of fire-support artillery rockets with trajectory correction (Jerina 1 – J1) and a range of 285 km. Depending on the tactical scenario/operating conditions, the launch weapon is capable of carrying and delivering four or eight rockets. Rockets are factory packed in modules that serve as storage, transport and launch containers. Each module contains two rockets packed in tubes made of composite segments joined with steel attachments and covers providing full protection against the environment. The launch weapon is designed for transport and launch of 262 mm rocket as well, from two launch modules (each accommodating six rockets), to a distance of 70 km – J2 (Jerina 2).
