The Special-Purpose All-Terrain Vehicle (S-ATV) is the latest member of off-road military vehicles being offered by Oshkosh Defence. It is designed to meet the mobility requirements of the US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM or SOCOM) and other armed forces across the world.
The vehicle was unveiled at the Modern Day Marine Exhibition held at Marine Corps Base Quantico (MCBQ) in September 2012. It was recently exhibited by Oshkosh at the Special Operations Forces Exhibition & Conference (SOFEX) 2018 held in Amman, Jordan, in May 2018.
The S-ATV can be used for search-and-rescue (SAR), reconnaissance, target acquisition, internal defence, rapid response, and counter-insurgency operations.
